Intervention in the apparel sector started with establishment of Cottcool in 1998 by opening up retail Apparel stores in Lahore Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. The number of stores increased to over 20 cities of Punjab province by the year 2008. At the moment, Cottcool is directly and through its franchises, running 56 stores in 35 cities and towns.
These stores target the middle-income group by providing them international quality products on affordable prices.
The fact that many of high-end international brands outsource their products from Pakistan, which are later sold in international markets on much higher prices, has been the driving force behind this project. By quality assurance and efficient management, the products of same quality can be produced which are in price range for middle and lower income groups.
To support the supplies, in addition to outsourcing, Cottcool installed a modern knitwear stitching unit at Manga Mandi Lahore, Pakistan. Equipped with the latest facilities unit has a production capacity of 120,000 knitwear garments every month.
Cottcool have entered into business arrangements with many multinational and local brands which includes the giants like Bata International, Inditex Group, Zara Textiles (Spain) and Taimoor Textiles etc.
